Ever since Maxime Cheurlin was handed the reigns to his family's domaine in 2010, he very quickly became one of Burgundy's hottest names. Now he has achieved an almost cult-like status for his wines, serious Burg-nuts are hunting for allocations with every vintage Maxime puts out. This talented grower was only 20 years old when he became fully in charge of the estate. Prior to that, he had been training at two other top domaines in Vosne-Romanee, namely Gros Frere et Soeur and Emmanuel Rouget (his uncle) giving him a solid foundation in which to rejuvenate his own family's wines.

His emphasis is on the purity of fruit. He rarely punches down in the tank and is judicious in his use of oak. His wines see between 30-100% oak depending on the terroir. You will find ageing potential in his wines which impart an unusual elegance that all of us Burg-lovers chase yet, like his peers of his generation, he's making wines that are drinkable when young.
